Apple finally brings Live Photos to websites

A year and a half after the Live Photos function was launched, Apple is finally thinking of a way to make the technology popular on the Internet. During the existence of Live Photos, few photo sharing services adopted the Live Photos technology, but now the Apple company has released software that allows its adoption anywhere on the Internet.

Specifically, Apple released a JavaScript API that allows Live Photos to be published on any kind of website on the Internet, so not just on its products, Tumblr, or Facebook. Using this JavaScript API, any kind of website owner can display Live Photos on their website, so in theory the use of Live Photos should increase in the coming months.

Apple explains in the framework this website how this JavaScript API can be used for Live Photos, but of course some technical knowledge is needed for its implementation. How many people will rush to implement Live Photos in their own websites using this JavaScript API remains to be seen, so it remains to be seen how successful Apple will be in its attempt to popularize its technology.

"This new JavaScript-based API makes it easy to embed Live Photos on your websites. In addition to enabling Live Photos on iOS and macOS, you can now let users display their Live Photos on the web. The JavaScript API presents the player in the form of a DOM element, much like an image or video tag, which can be configured with photo and video resources and other options, and have its playback controlled either programmatically by the consuming developer, or via pre -provided controls by the browsing end-user."
