Microsoft – fabric with fingerprint reader

Microsoft launched this evening a new modern keyboard that has an integrated fingerprint reader to facilitate unlocking Windows with its help. In the video clip below you can see the new Microsoft keyboard that looks exactly like the standard Apple keyboard for Mac, only that it is a bit grayer and has that integrated fingerprint reader near the spacebar.

Microsoft says that this new keyboard has a modern design, but since Apple has been using it for over 4 years, it is clear that we are not talking about something innovative. Microsoft says that it is made of aluminum, just like Apple's, that it is very strong and very thin, but we are basically talking about a clone of what Apple has been offering for years.

The new keyboard from Microsoft is to be officially launched on the market at the price of 130 dollars, almost 3 times more than the price of the Apple keyboard, probably because of the fingerprint reader. The Microsoft keyboard will still be compatible with macOS, Windows and even iOS, and it now shows us a possible implementation for Touch ID in future Apple keyboards.

"The option of using Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID as either a wireless/wired interface gives connection options, making it more appealing to commercial audiences. We optimized the Bluetooth pairing experience, enabling automatic pairing when you connect the cable at first OOBE.”
