iPhone 8 will have Face ID, a facial recognition system that will supplement or replace Touch ID this year to protect the data in our terminals. This Face ID was thought to simplify the procedure to unlock the iPhone 8, simply placing the terminal in front of our face automatically unlocking, as has been the case with some Android smartphones for some time.
iPhone 8 has, in addition to all this, a system specially designed to analyze the movements of our face and, probably, to control some functions based on the data. In the image below you can see what kind of entries were discovered inside the source code of the HomePod's operating system, suggesting that the iPhone 8 will also when we move our mouth, when we move our lips, when we smile and more.

iPhone 8 will know when you are angry based on the expression of your face and it is hard to say what kind of functions will be activated accordingly, but the Apple company is testing expression recognition in iOS 11. Various rumors told us that iPhone 8 will contain a system facial recognition, and these HomePod iOS entries are the clearest confirmation of Apple's intentions regarding this important technology.
The iPhone 8 could even unlock itself when it "sees" that we are looking at the screen, but of course none of the functions are 100% safe. On the other hand, it seems that the infrared sensor for the 3D front camera of the iPhone 8 would allow us to scan our face even in the dark, a function that no other smartphone on the planet has available at the moment.
iPhone 8 will have Face ID for facial recognition, but it is unlikely that Touch ID will disappear completely, considering that the system is proven to be very secure. Apple cannot risk by only offering the Face ID system to secure data and payments, so even though Touch ID will not be integrated into the iPhone 8 screen, it is unlikely that it will completely disappear from Apple's new smartphone.
