A Man was JAILED for REFUSING to Unlock his iPhone

Male CLOSED REFUSAL Unlock iPhone 351079

A US man was sentenced to prison after refusing to unlock two phones iPhone, both at the request of the police and at the request of a judge. The man was stopped by a policeman for not yielding priority in traffic, and after the car was searched, two iPhones, a hidden weapon, and some marijuana were found in it.

The policeman who was on the scene became interested in the contents of the phones when he saw a message on the screen of one in which the owner was asked if an object, probably from inside the car, had been found. The police probably thought that the person who asked the question would be a drug or weapons dealer, so they asked the man to unlock the phone.

He refused, so he was detained by the police, and the prosecutor supervising the investigation of the case convinced a judge to force the man to unlock his phone. In front of the judge, the man stated that he did not know the phone's access code because it had recently come into his possession, so he was sentenced to 180 days in prison for refusing to unlock his phone.

"If they arrest you for anything — whether it's drugs, guns, you name it — and an electronic device is nearby, they can get a search warrant and search it. And if you don't provide that information to search it, to unlock, because you want to keep the information private, we'll put you in jail."

The man's lawyer stated that the whole action is perfectly legal, and that any person who refuses to unlock his phone at the request of the police can end up in the same situation. Here we are also talking about a case in which even a judge ordered the unlocking of the iPhone, so that any American can be imprisoned under similar conditions by the authorities.
