PC sales fell in Q4 2018, probably as everyone expected, globally selling only 68.6 million units from various manufacturers. Apple was not immune to this trend, so Mac sales also decreased by almost 200.000 units compared to Q4 2018, so Americans no longer go against the trends.
Interestingly, although Apple sold fewer Macs in Q4 2018 than in Q4 2017, its market share increased by 0.1 percentage points based on the decrease in overall sales. Apple is not the only manufacturer that has seen a drop in sales, but some of the top manufacturers have seen increases, which is surprising in such a climate.
PC sales have DECREASED together with those of Macs
Lenovo is the big winner of the PC market in Q4 2018, registering a 5.9% increase in PC sales, those from Dell also having a good evolution, with an increase of 1.4%. In the rest, everyone recorded a decrease in sales, in the case of those from ASUS, sales decreased by 10.7%, while for Acer there was a decrease of 18.3%.
The average decrease in sales for the rest of the PC manufacturers is 12.9%, and so we see that the PC market has new problems, which the manufacturers cannot solve.
