RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone HARD DECISION for Customers

RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone have in front of them an extremely difficult decision that they have to make for their customers, it being influenced by the Romanian Parliament.

RCS & RDS decision

RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone have an extremely important decision in front of them in the next month because the controversial GEO 114/2018 will be discussed in the Parliament with a view to its adoption in order to be implemented. Up to this moment, only those from RCS & RDS have taken the difficult decision to increase service prices in order to be able to offer quality for customers in Romania, but the other operators could pay a similar price if the Romanian Parliament maintains GEO 114/2018 in the form initial.

RCS & RDS. Even if Digi made the decision, the rest of the operators have not announced anything for now, probably waiting for GEO 114/2018 to be discussed in the Romanian Parliament, where they will more than likely try to at least modify it. Considering that it needs confirmation in the Parliament in order to be applied, for now there are chances that RCS & RDS and the rest of the telecom operators will get rid of the new tax imposed by the Government, or at least reduce it, which would still be a good news.

RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone and the heavy decision influenced by the Parliament

RCS & RDS. The chances that changes will be made for this emergency ordinance still exist, and it is very possible that that fee will be reduced to the value of 1%, or even to a lower one, as it was until now. There is also a chance that the tax will return to the initial form in which RCS & RDS and the other telecom operators paid nothing if ANCOM does not enter the deficit, something that has not happened in the last 10 years for the institution that regulates the local telecom market.

RCS & RDS. As you already know very well, from February 1, GEO 114/2018 will reach the Senate for debate, and the Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making chamber in this situation, so the operators' efforts will probably be concentrated there. For RCS & RDS and the other companies, it will be very difficult to convince the Romanian parliamentarians to take a decision contrary to the one given by the government they voted into office, but as long as there are chances, anything must be tried.

RCS & RDS. Even if the operator owned by Digi will get rid of the tax, the increased prices will remain, but that money will be able to be used to improve the current infrastructure, and perhaps to invest more in 5G.
