RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone, are at the center of a big change that was announced out of nowhere for all customers in Romania, extremely many people being taken by surprise by the announcement. More precisely, yesterday we were told that Telekom could leave Romania during 2019 due to the measures imposed by GEO 114/2019 by the Government of Romania, and what from RCS & RDS, and Orange, would take a large part among the company's clients.
RCS & RDS. The Digi group would take over the customers on the television side, and Orange on the mobile phone side, but for now nothing is 100% certain at the moment, and nothing has been officially said. The big problem is that it would be more logical for RCS & RDS to take over the mobile telephony division of those from Telekom, and Orange the television division, and this is because both companies have very large deficiencies in these chapters.

RCS & RDS. The merger of the television divisions of Telekom and Digi is logical in view of the fact that both have sports channels with large audiences in Romania, they broadcast all the sports events in the country, except for the matches of the national team. Following the merger, those from RCS & RDS would also have the largest sports channel in Romania, and this is because Telekom Sport would be absorbed into Digi Sport, so it would be logical to take over the customers from the tv side.
RCS & RDS. Orange could not take over the customers from the TV side because it does not have a sports channel at the moment, and it certainly does not want to do one, but taking over the telephony division does not seem logical and feasible either. On the other hand, it is not yet known where the customers who are subscribers to internet or landline services will end up, but RCS & RDS has something to take from here, just like Orange or Vodafone, so there are options.
RCS & RDS. Unfortunately, the departure of Telekom from Romania would leave a very big void on the mobile telephony market, and would substantially reduce competition in the telecom segment, so it remains to be seen whether this will happen in the end or not.
