RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, ALL Customers have a GREAT Veste

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, will have an extremely important change for all customers in the coming weeks, here's how you will benefit from it.

RCS & RDS advanced mobile location

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, are affected by an extremely important change for their customers, and everyone needs to know what will happen in the following weeks, because we are directly involved. More precisely, the Romanian authorities will soon implement the Advanced Mobile Location system for the 112 emergency service, and RCS & RDS clients, and not only that, will benefit from much more accurate location when they ask for help.

RCS & RDS. Although in theory the operators should not make any changes to the network so that the 112 service receives messages through AML technology, they are still directly involved. AML technology involves sending an SMS to the 112 emergency service with the geographical coordinates of the person calling, so the RCS & RDS networks, and those of the other operators, are used to transmit the essential information for each case.

RCS & RDS. Phones with integrated Advanced Mobile Location technology automatically activate GPS and the Internet for exact location when calling 112, and the SMS is sent with this data. Even if the phone has these functions disabled, AML automatically activates when calling 112 to obtain the data and send the SMS with information via RCS & RDS, or the other networks, the functions being then automatically disabled.

“An AML-enabled smartphone recognizes when an emergency call is made and, if not already activated, activates the phone's GNSS to collect the caller's location information. The receiver then automatically sends an SMS to the emergency services with the caller's location, before switching off GNSS again. The service can also use Wi-Fi, depending on which is better at any given time.”

RCS & RDS. Theoretically, mobile phone operators could only be asked to give priority to these types of SMS that reach 112, but the authorities will have to modernize the system to be able to receive them. It is not yet known when the AML technology will be integrated for the 112 emergency service, but considering that RCS & RDS, or other companies, do not have to do anything, everything depends on the authorities' ability to keep their word.

RCS & RDS. AML technology will save a lot of lives if it is implemented as soon as possible, but it is difficult to say how long it might take until we will really benefit from technologies that will save our lives.
