Coronavirus Romania: Schools Closed Across the Country, Government Announcement

Published by Ministry of Health - Romania on Monday, March 9, 2020

Coronavirus closes schools in Romania, the Government announcing this evening the decision to close all pre-university education units from March 11 to March 22 to prevent the spread of the virus in our country, the measure being anticipated today after its discussion was confirmed by Ludovic Orban .

The increasing number of coronavirus infections is the reason why this decision was taken, together with the suspension of air flights that are connected to Italy, but we are only talking about two of the many measures taken by the Romanian authorities.

The Romanian government is also strengthening the control at the road and railway border to prevent the entry into the country of people who are infected with the new Coronavirus, even if they try to lie and say that they come from other regions of Italy/countries, in order to get home even though they can be infected.

The Romanian government is also increasing the number of doctors involved in the fight against the Coronavirus, the diagnostic capabilities, but also the stocks of equipment used to diagnose new cases.

Road and rail transport runs from Romania to Italy, and vice versa, are suspended by the Romanian Government starting from March 11, and until March 31.
