Android had some important news this week, some changing everything we thought, but here's what you need to know about it all.

Android this week had a launch for a new developer preview version, version 11, for phones and tablets, with Google continuing to test the operating system around the world. What Google has not done yet is to release the first beta version of Android, and this is because these developer preview versions are not the ones that can be tested by regular users on their phones, and this release was delayed by a month.

Android was supposed to have version 11 presented last week by Google during the annual I/O conference, which is dedicated to application developers from all over the world. The Coronavirus pandemic forced the move of this conference exclusively online, and because Google employees are working from home during this period, the decision was also made to postpone by one month the presentation of the first beta version of Android version 11, including all the new features.

Android 11 is delayed, but it will have the functions expected by many

Even if Google made the decision to postpone the release of Android 11 even in the beta version, the company has not yet announced any decision to stop offering some of the functions that the world is waiting for. In the developer preview versions, many changes were discovered that Google is working on at the moment, but fortunately they are still in development, and should be offered together with Android 11 when it is officially launched.

Google made the decision to allow its employees to continue working from home until the end of the year, which could affect the development capacity of the operating system to a certain extent. Even so, it is unlikely that the long-awaited functions will not be released for all phones in September, when the official release of version 11 of the Android operating system is expected, so the wait will be worth it, in the end.

Android is the most used operating system on the planet, with over 3 billion active devices at the moment, but not all of them are phones or tablets, the diversity being very large.
