Bolt electric scooter rental Bucharest

Bolt announced today the launch of a new important service for customers in Romania, more precisely, the possibility to rent electric scooters, and below you have all the details.

"Bucharest, 07.07.2020 - Bolt, the main European on-demand transport platform, today launches the electric scooter rental service. In Bucharest, the new electric scooters built according to their own design, created by Bolt engineers from Estonia, will be used. Given the timing of the launch, Bolt is disinfecting the scooters daily and recommends that all users use hand sanitizer and/or gloves when riding the scooter.

Cristian Sălceanu, Bolt Romania Country Manager, said: "We are launching electric scooters in Bucharest to offer people an individual, easy-to-use means of transport, suitable for short, intra-urban roads. Many of us have returned to work and sometimes need to travel short distances or avoid increasingly congested traffic. Electric scooters thus complement the ride-hailing services we offer. We still recommend that everyone follow the instructions of government institutions and health authorities and only travel if they absolutely need to during this period."

Users who already have the Bolt app installed will see a scooter icon in the app after updating it. Tapping the icon will take them to the scooter rental interface. People who do not yet have the Bolt app installed can download it from Google Play or the Apple Store. The scooter can be unlocked by scanning the QR code. On first use, the app will show you how to use it and how to park it safely at the end.

Unlocking the electric scooter will cost 0 lei and every minute 0,1 lei. For example, a 10-minute walk, which is enough to cover several kilometers in the city, will cost 1 leu.

The scooters will be located in the center of Bucharest, in transport hubs and in other frequented places such as Piața Unirii, Cișmigiu, Piața Romană, Piața Universității, Pipera-Aurel Vlaicu area, Herăstrău area. On arrival, users can park the scooter in a safe place on the street, preferably next to a bicycle parking space. Scooters can be left in the city center in the area marked on the map in the app. If the user leaves the scooter outside the designated area, he will be fined 100 lei.

Bolt will distribute hundreds of scooters in Bucharest and will be ready to increase their number at the request of users. Bolt scooters are equipped with built-in GPS trackers to provide data on pickup and drop-off locations. Each morning, Bolt will redistribute the scooters to the designated spots.

In Bucharest, Bolt will use a customized scooter model with a maximum speed of 25 km/h and which can go up to 40 km on a charge cycle. Actual battery life depends on usage.
Bolt currently operates scooters in 21 cities across Europe and is expanding to new cities every week.”
