Government of Romania: Announcement regarding the closing of schools for the elections

The Romanian government schools elections

The Romanian government confirmed yesterday through the Minister of Education, Monica Anisie, information according to which schools will be closed for the organization of this year's local elections, which is perfectly normal for everything to take place in optimal conditions for all Romanians who want to vote.

Today, through Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, the Government of Romania announces that although schools will be closed, classes will continue to be held online, so students will attend classes even if they will not physically go to the educational units, so that we are not talking about a the new short vacation for them.

"The school will be held online, one day, two, we'll see, we decide during Monday, before the vote and after the vote, to allow the disinfection of the classrooms that will be premises for the polling stations. Only that. They will not be suspended, but online classes will be held in the respective rooms, so as to ensure the disinfection and preparation of classes for the reception of students.

There will certainly be a unanimous decision. We have already had a discussion, but until we take the decision and with the consultation of all the factors, the Permanent Electoral Authority, the INSP, the Ministry of Health, I don't want to give you an answer now, but there will certainly be days when the school activity will take place online, the courses will not be suspended, but will be held online. Because we need at least one day to prepare the premises of the polling stations, given that you know that many of the premises of the polling stations are in schools." A declared Ludovic Orban at DIGI 24.
