Full-frame cinematic quality

The new camera has a 10.2 MP full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS sensor, with backlighting, for a dynamic range extended by over 15 exposure stops, with high sensitivity and extremely low image noise. Base ISO sensitivity for the FX6 is 800, with settings to increase sensitivity up to ISO 12,800 – with the possibility of expansion up to 409,600 – for recording in low and very low light conditions. It can record in XAVC All Intra format with 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth for flawless image quality in DCI 4K (4096 x 2160 up to 60p), QFHD 4K (3840 x 2160 up to 120p) and FHD (1920 x 1080 up to 240p), for incredibly detailed slow motion recording. When more convenient file formats are required, the FX6 can record in 8-bit XAVC Long GOP 4:2:0 at QFHD 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 up to 120p) and 10-bit 4:2:2 at FHD resolution (1920 X 1080 – up to 240p.). The FX6 also includes a BIONZ XR™ image processor, used for the first time in the new Sony Alpha 7S III camera, which offers up to four times more processing performance compared to the FS5 II model.

Developed from the same Sony expertise behind the flagship VENICE cinema camera, the FX6 integrates advanced color science including S-CinetoneTM, for richer tonal reproduction, but also S-Log3, S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine color profiles for flexibility in the post-production process. The Kinematic Color Science implemented on the FX6 is optimized for premium applications by capturing in the maximum dynamic range offered by the sensor to provide expanded creative freedom. Benefiting from the integrated color expertise of the VENICE model, the FX6 offers the possibility of combining recordings with those made on other cameras in the Cinema Line range.

Advanced video features

Inspired by the impressive autofocus capabilities found on Sony Alpha cameras, the FX6 features a hybrid autofocus system with 627 phase-detection AF points in focal plane with face recognition and Real-time Eye AF at a high frame rate with continuous AF, allowing camera operators to accurately and effortlessly track fast-moving subjects, including slow motion, without losing no moment the focus. Hybrid AF system is compatible with over 50 native E-mount lenses, even with 4K 120p recording  The camera can also record in slow motion (slow motion) images 5 times slower compared to the standard recording type, at 4K resolution (QFHD) 120 frames per second (FPS).

The new FX6 also features internal electronic variable neutral density (ND) filters for easier and more fluid control of the camera's filter density. Users can set a variable ND filter to auto mode or manually adjust the filter density in steps from 1/4 to 1/128 for perfectly exposed images without affecting depth of field or shooting angle, even in low light conditions. variable brightness. Combined with the camera's high sensitivity, variable electronic neutral density (ND) filters give users amazing creative control in almost any recording environment.

Made for content creators on the go

Amazing mobility and operability

Built on a durable magnesium alloy chassis, measuring just 4.6 inches x 6 inches x 4.5 inches (116 millimeters x 153 millimeters x 114 millimeters) and weighing just 890 grams, the FX6 has a compact and lightweight design, which allows users to take it with them anywhere, for recording in any conditions. The new camera also includes a heat dissipation mechanism to keep the camera components within normal operating parameters and prevent them from overheating, even during extended recording sessions. The FX6 also has a modular design that allows users to easily combine desired accessories, such as grips or electronic viewfinders, but also to attach the camera to other devices such as gimbals or drones.

The FX6's 3,5-inch LCD electronic viewfinder can be easily attached to multiple locations on the camera body for more freedom and easier touch menu navigation. Using a quick access menu to keep the most used functions close at hand, operators can change key settings with a single touch – including Codec, Imager Scan Mode, Picture Size and Frequency, Base ISO and Sensitivity, Shooting Mode and Audio Levels.
