The Romanian Police explains below the conditions under which an animal that is in danger can be put to the shelter urgently by order of the authorities, and it is important to know this if you see an animal that needs help, and you can ask the police for it.

The Romanian Police has recently had a new division, the Animal Police, and it deals with punishing abuses that take place against animals, but they can also order the emergency placement of animals in state shelters.

"A helping hand!
Police officers from the Romanian Police who, in the exercise of their duties, find that an animal is in a dangerous situation, immediately issue an order to place the animal in a shelter for a period of 45 days.
"Animal in danger" means:
a) animal that has been injured or mauled;
b) animal that has been involved in fights between animals or with animals;
c) domestic animal or captive wild animal on which shooting was practiced;
d) animal used for training other animals or to control the aggressiveness of other animals;
e) domestic animal forcibly exposed to very high or very low temperatures;
f) equine, bovine, sheep and goat animals found, without supervision, on public roads.
