Ministry of Health: Under what conditions does a person infected with the Coronavirus receive the second dose of vaccine

Ministry of Health vaccination conditions infected coronavirus

The Ministry of Health talks below about the situation in which a person was found to be infected with the new Coronavirus after taking the first dose of vaccine, this being possible if he was exposed before vaccination, or up to 10 days after vaccination.

The Ministry of Health says that the antibodies produced by the vaccines against the Coronavirus appear 10-14 days after immunization, so during this time anyone can be infected, and the second dose will not be administered until after healing, but under certain conditions.

"The immunity provided by the vaccines against COVID-19 begins to develop approximately 10-14 days after the first dose. Therefore, in this time window, the immune system is not yet ready to fight the virus. Therefore, it is possible for a person to develop COVID-19 shortly after receiving the first dose of the vaccine.
The National Committee for the Coordination of Activities on Vaccination against COVID-19 (CNCAV) approved the instruction on vaccination in special situations with the Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. This includes, among other situations, the case where a person develops SARS-CoV-2 infection after receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In this situation, the person will be able to be vaccinated after healing, by continuing the vaccination schedule, without resuming the first dose. It is recommended that people who received in the last 90 days treatment for COVID-19 with monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma postpone their vaccination until after this period, because the said treatments can reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
This recommendation can also be followed in the case of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The information is consistent with the expert opinions and recommendations of competent organizations at the international level."
