Windows 10: Official, Important Decision, what will be Removed

Windows 10 removal

Windows 10 has officially announced a very important decision made by Microsoft for customers around the world, and according to them, it seems that something will be removed from the operating system. More precisely, those from Microsoft made the decision to partially remove the Timeline, which was not very useful for many people anyway, so that Windows 10 will be easier to use, and that history of applications, web pages accessed, etc. , will disappear completely.

Windows 10 had this functionality launched in 2017 by those from Microsoft in tandem with applications for iOS and Android, but since those disappeared, it was only logical to also disappear the connection with them from the operating system. Those from Microsoft based the Timeline function to a very large extent on the personal assistant Cortana in Windows 10, which over time began to be put aside because it was not as useful as the company thought.

Windows 10: Official, Important Decision, what will be Removed

Windows 10 had this major change announced as part of the list of changes for the latest preview build that Microsoft made available to those who test the beta versions before they are released. The timeline itself does not disappear completely yet, but the function in it that allowed the synchronization of data from Windows 10 with mobile phones will disappear completely because there is not much to be synchronized with.

“If your activity history is synced across all devices through your Microsoft account (MSA), you will no longer have the option to upload new activity to Timeline. Accounts connected to AAD will not be affected. To view your web history, Edge and other browsers have the option to look back at recent web activity. You can also view recently used files using OneDrive and Office.”

Windows 10 will definitely remain without Timeline at some point, and this is because this step only denotes Microsoft's intention to greatly simplify what we have in our computers. Since Timeline was primarily designed for synchronizing action histories between devices, Windows 10 will more than likely run out of the entire system at some point to make way for other, more useful functions.

Windows 10 will have this change made as part of this spring update, it is expected sometime next month, but it is not yet clear when.
