WhatsApp: The Secret Trick in the iPhone and Android Application

WhatsApp exasperation

WhatsApp has a secret trick in iPhone and Android that you probably didn't know about until now because it's not exactly something easy to find, and the company doesn't talk about it. More precisely, since last year WhatsApp has been offering the possibility to turn off notifications for chat groups, but not completely, and this is because if a person mentions us in that group, or replies to a message published by us there, we will receive anyway a notification from the application.

WhatsApp has an escape here in terms of blocking notifications from chat groups, but there is a trick that we can use to also block receiving this type of notifications. More precisely, if we choose to individually block the people who mention us in these groups on WhatsApp, the notifications will be completely blocked, even if they mention us in the chat groups, or if they reply to the messages we send there.

WhatsApp: The Secret Trick in the iPhone and Android Application

WhatsApp thought its system of blocking notifications for groups in such a way that it can be circumvented by some of those who know how to get over the not very good implementation made by the company. Of course, WhatsApp should have done things better, but in the absence of such a solution, all we have to do is block individually the people we don't want to talk to, and from whom we don't want to receive notifications at all.

WhatsApp obliges us to do this on an individual level until it also offers the possibility to completely block notifications from groups, even if they come through mentions or replies to messages. The idea behind this trick is to help people who are exasperated that they're still getting messages from groups they've blocked, but who in reality aren't quite as blocked as they'd like.

WhatsApp cannot block this trick for iPhone and Android, but it can significantly improve the functionality that users have in their daily lives when using the platform.
