DIGI Mobil is the third largest mobile phone operator in all of Romania, with 3.8 million customers, recently managing to overtake even Telekom, which for many seemed improbable. Even so, DIGI Mobil achieved an impressive achievement from many points of view, and soon it will be forced to make new investments in its infrastructure due to a new law that was adopted by the Romanian Government regarding the 5G infrastructure.
DIGI Mobil was one of the first mobile phone operators in Romania that had the courage to invest in this kind of infrastructure, only that it did so with equipment from Huawei, mainly. Now the Romanian Government will oblige DIGI Mobil to change them within 5 years, and here comes a very big chance for DIGI Mobil that can improve the performance of its 5G network with better performing equipment, from manufacturers other than Huawei.
DIGI Mobil: Important Opportunity for Millions of Customers
If DIGI Mobil is forced to remove the other Huawei equipment from its infrastructure, it would once again have a chance to offer its customers much better quality services than they do now. DIGI Mobil has the weakest mobile internet in Romania, and its coverage is not great either, so if it were forced to replace the current equipment in the entire infrastructure, it has the chance to offer its customers something of much better quality.
DIGI Mobil grew in Romania with the help of low prices for its services, but they also came with a reduced quality for all these services, something that can be changed with investments. Of course, DIGI Mobil should spend enough money to be able to exchange Huawei's cheap equipment with better quality and performance ones, but if the Romanian Government forces it to do this, it has the chance to make a massive upgrade for its network.
DIGI Mobil is the only telecommunications operator in Romania that still lists speeds of up to 100 Mbps for its network, in not many places, and coverage in buildings is still a serious problem.
