Romanian Government: The pandemic is not over, vaccination is important

The Romanian government conveys through Valeriu Gheorghita, the CNCAV coordinator, the fact that the pandemic has not yet ended, so vaccination remains very important in our country, something that is critical to prevent the emergence of a new serious wave.

The Romanian government says that it is important that in every community there is a core of people who have immunity so that the spread of the virus is not so great, and whatever kind of waves will come, they should not have a very high intensity.

"Even if their number is not as high as we would like, it is important that, in the end, in each community there is a critical number of people to be vaccinated, so that we do not face an increase in the next period of the number of cases, especially among the population that is still receptive, not immunized either by vaccination or by passing through the disease.

That is precisely why it is important that we do our homework as well as possible now, to prepare as well as possible, to avoid another wave of illnesses. Because it is difficult to anticipate what the course of the pandemic will be, taking into account the fact that we have at least four viral variants that are important, that are worrisome and that, at the moment, are being carefully monitored internationally .

That is precisely why we must understand that the pandemic is not over and we have a circulating virus, we have several hundred cases daily in Romania, which means that we still have a reservoir from which we can reach an increase in the number of cases again, if the number of the immunized population - either by vaccination, ideally, or by going through the disease - is not high enough. So, we must maintain the same objective of group immunity of at least 60%-70%, precisely to prevent a wave of illnesses in the coming period."
