Coronavirs: How Rapidly the Delta Variant Spreads in Schools

How Fast Coronavirs Spread the Delta Schools Variant

The Delta variant of Coronavirs spreads very quickly in schools, and this is revealed by a case in the USA, where an unvaccinated, infected teacher sickened no less than 26 children in 2 days of activity before being detected.

“US study: Delta strain can spread rapidly in schools when unvaccinated teachers and staff are indoors and not wearing protective masks.

Case of an outbreak associated with the Delta variant in an elementary school in Marin, California, May–June 2021.

Between May 23 and June 12, 2021, 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19 occurred among students at an elementary school in Marin, California after exposure to an infected and unvaccinated teacher. The attack rate in one affected class was 50%; the risk is correlated with the proximity of the students' seats to the teacher.

The teacher reported becoming symptomatic on May 19, but continued to work for 2 days before receiving the test result on May 21. As of May 23, additional cases of COVID-19 have been reported among other staff members, students, parents and siblings of those who had contact with the school.

Measures to prevent and combat infection with SARS-CoV-2:
– Wear the protective mask correctly;
– Get vaccinated if you are eligible;
– Stay at home if you have symptoms;
– Test yourself periodically.”
