Valeriu Gheorghita: Official Measures Taken Before Wave 5

Valeriu Gheorghita speaks to millions of Romanians from all over the country about a new series of measures that have been taken, and will continue to be taken, throughout Romania by the authorities to prevent a wave 5 that will have an even greater power than the wave 4, which is still ongoing.

Valeriu Gheorghita explains below the measures taken to increase people's confidence in vaccination through marathons and mobile information caravans, plus mobile vaccination teams, all so that as many people as possible are immunized before the 5th wave hits Romania, but maybe with less power.

"As you know, the concept of "People like mine", the National Information and Communication Caravan, was launched last week in Dolj counties, at the end of last week, and will follow, later, in Argeș counties in the following period, Olt and so on, and there will be other counties in the country.

Also, in the city of Bucharest, the vaccination marathon continues at the end of each week. During this weekend, November 12-14, 22.104 people were vaccinated, representing a total of about 55% of the total number of people vaccinated in the city of Bucharest during the same time period.

Also, other national vaccination marathon events were organized in seven counties in the country. Several vaccination actions were organized with the support of mobile teams in rural communities during the week of November 8-14, and actions were practically carried out in 29 counties, being vaccinated over 8.114 people from the countryside.

I mention that at the European level the vaccination rate is around 61% with at least one dose and around 57-58% with the full schedule, basically, we are at a difference of around 15% compared to what is happening at the European level. Here I'm not just talking about EU member countries, I'm talking about all European countries, it's the average reported in international databases.

Of course we have a lot to recover, but we must note that in the last two months important progress has been made and I hope to maintain this vaccination rate and rhythm, to increase it in the next period and in this way we can achieve that collective immunity , group immunity, to protect us from the next consequences of the next waves."
