Valeriu Gheorghita revealed a very important last-minute measure that will be applied in the 5th wave for all of Romania, which will have a big impact on people from all over the country, and this is because the vaccination of children between the ages of 5 and 11 begins.
Valeriu Gheorghita says that January 26 is the date from which the vaccination of children between the ages of 5 and 11 will begin, and they can already be scheduled in the vaccination platform, even if until then they will not be able to go physically to be immunized.
"What I want to say is that, even if from today, from the moment we speak, the appointment is available, the first day on which the vaccination can be done will be January 26, so on January 26 the vaccination actually begins. Taking into account that on the 24th and 25th we receive the doses, they will be distributed to the vaccination centers and then the 26th will be the first day of vaccination.
Attention, the platform has the possibility to schedule people earlier than January 26, but, I repeat, the first day we select for vaccination will be the 26. The vaccination schedule consists of two doses administered at an interval of 21 days, the administered dose is 10 micrograms, basically, represents a third of the dose we use for people over 12 years old.
It is important to note that if a person who is almost 12 years old, i.e. 11 years and 11 months, at the first dose will receive a pediatric dose of 10 micrograms, and if he turns 12 before the 2nd dose, the 2nd dose will will perform with the same pediatric dose, i.e. 10 micrograms and not the 30 microgram dose.
It is mandatory for the parents to be present with the minor at the vaccination office to give the informed consent or, in particular cases, the presence of the legal representative, just to give the informed consent and perform the medical triage. All procedures and instructions are sent to the vaccination centers. They are already available since December.
