Valeriu Gheorghita raises a very important alarm signal that targets all Romanians in the country at the moment, and this is because he brings to our attention the extremely serious problem of conspiracy theories, which have affected billions of people in the Coronavirus pandemic.
Valeriu Gheorghita says that people must look more circumspectly at conspiracy messages than at official information from experts, and try to think logically about the messages in them to realize how much truth, or lies, there is behind them.
"The big problems of conspiracy theories are: who propagates them, who is at the origin of this information, and it is obvious that the more a person has a higher professional credibility, because he is a doctor, or he is from a professional group respected at the level of society , is very very important because it gives weight to the transmitted message.
The second thing is the information itself, and here is information that, as I said, touches that emotional area that relates to our ability to preserve ourselves as a species, and to survive. Everything that has to do with fertility, with life, with birth, all these things obviously generate a lot of emotional load, and create rejection, hesitation.
Also, the quality, from the point of view of expertise and the level of medical education, of a person is important. It is obvious that when we don't know much about what immunity means, a virus, what a vaccine means, about how a vaccine works, notions that should be known since childhood, since the child goes to school.
It would be very important for medical education classes to be included in the curriculum, because it is part of the medical knowledge package with which today's child, tomorrow's adult, can better understand how to protect their health. Man from the time he is born, until he dies, is exposed to information, and the school promotes science, trust in science, less conspiracy theories.
We cannot speculate on such important topics. It is very interesting that we say certain things, as far as we know them, the duration of protection after the vaccine, etc., but in the conspiracy theories there are some who seem to know everything, that people develop diseases in a few years, that there is a risk of infertility, and this must be an alarm signal. If the experts don't know, how do the others know?"
