The European Parliament Wants Strict Limits on CO2 Emissions

The European Parliament wants much stricter limits for CO2 emissions so that by 2035 the target of zero emissions at the level of the European Union will be reached, and this is because there are ambitious objectives related to climate that must be met.

"To reduce vehicle emissions, the European deputies propose stricter limits for CO2, so that by 2035 we reach zero emissions.

To achieve its ambitious climate goals, the EU is revising legislation in sectors with a direct impact on the Get 55 package. This includes transport, the only sector where greenhouse gas emissions are still higher than in 1990. With an increase of more than 25%, transport accounts for a fifth of total EU emissions.

Road transport accounts for the largest percentage of transport emissions, and in 2021 it was responsible for 72% of the total greenhouse gas emissions from EU domestic and international transport."
