Russia could make a military base in Kherson, a region occupied for several months by the army sent to invade Ukraine, and the measure is an extremely important one in order to conquer other regions of the country in the following weeks, and this is because from a the military base can launch attacks more easily.
Russia wants to conquer more areas in the south of Ukraine, to reach the borders of Romania, Moldova and Transnistria, one of the important objectives that the country had in this war, but it remains to be seen if it will succeed in doing this during the following weeks.
"The Russian-appointed administration of Ukraine's Kherson region will ask Moscow to establish a military base on its territory, Russia's RIA news agency said Tuesday, citing a local government official.
Russia invaded Ukraine in February, notably seizing the Kherson region, which is adjacent to Crimea, the peninsula Moscow has controlled since a previous conflict in 2014.”
