The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, stated in an interview that it is not excluded that a new wave of infections generated by the Coronavirus will appear again in Romania in the fall of this year, but everything depends on how many new cases will be reported over summer, now the number of new cases is increasing.

The Minister of Health also states that people who are vaccinated, cured, and even vaccinated or cured after infection, can be re-infected, because the vaccine does not prevent infection, and the immunity generated by going through the disease is short-lived, the studies done so far show this.

"You know what the problem is, it's one of the possibilities (ed. regarding a new wave in the fall), we can't be sure that things can happen this way. If this summer the number of new cases will be relatively important, it is possible that there will be a kind of plateau phase, or there will be a higher number of cases, because usually the cold season favors the transmission of respiratory viruses.

We spend more time in closed spaces, prolonged exposure to cold also favors transmission, so there are also some general factors, not necessarily... There are some European countries with many new cases, but there are not many problems with the medical management of these cases either cases if the strain is less pathogenic and the forms are mild in most cases.

In this situation they do not pose any problems. In the end, we also do common, trivial colds, if we reach such a situation, that is the situation, and we reach a somewhat stable area. What I want to say is related to the fact that it has been observed, and we have new studies in Romania, that vaccinated people get sick again, people who have been through the disease get sick again.

People who have been through the disease, and are also vaccinated, also get sick again, because the immunity generated by the omicron strain is of poor quality, and relapses are possible, especially the vaccine, as we have repeatedly discussed, is the vaccine original, initially, which is quite distant from the point of view of immunological efficiency in terms of this Omicron variant.

The transmission is quite little influenced, we are still waiting from two of the producers, from Moderna and Pfizer, a new version of the vaccine that includes the Omicron strain, and which theoretically, I am waiting for the studies to see them, and to see what the reality is, until in the end, through which the people vaccinated with this new product no longer get sick and no longer transmit the disease."
