DACIA Duster and Land Rover Defender are put face to face in an extremely interesting off-road test that shows us how big, or small, the differences between the two SUVs are in reality, not just in price. The DACIA Duster model used in this test costs 22.600 pounds and has a 115 horsepower engine, while the Land Rover Defender model has 300 horsepower and costs 84.200 pounds, both with all-wheel drive, useful for this test.
DACIA Duster has shown in many off-road tests that the differences in money compared to other SUVs are not really reflected in reality when it comes to the car's ability to cope on rough terrain. About the same thing is visible even in the case of the comparison with the Land Rover Defender, and this is because the DACIA Duster performs at least as well as a car almost 4 times more expensive, except for the acceleration speed and the gross engine power.
DACIA Duster faces a Land Rover Defender even in off-road
The DACIA Duster is still able to cover the route that is put in front of it surprisingly easily, even if compared to the Land Rover Defender it does not have the same equipment that would allow it to pass easily over any kind of obstacles. Whether it's going up or down, fast or slow, or crossing various uneven areas, the Romanian car covers the route very well, but the Land Rover Defender has some technological elements that give it serious advantages.
The Land Rover Defender used in this test has features that allow it to modify its ground clearance, and of course it has a pneumatic system on air cushions, plus much more advanced electronic settings to transfer power between the wheels. The DACIA Duster is much simpler from these points of view, but its brute force is enough to overcome almost any kind of obstacles in front of it, and in case of accidents, it is cheaper to repair than the Land Rover Defender.
The DACIA Duster is also a simple and cheap car that is able to travel almost any kind of rough terrain without problems, but it does not offer as much comfort or safety as the Land Rover Defender.
