Petre Daea spoke to millions of Romanians about the last-minute measures that were taken in the field of agriculture in Romania, but also about a first that he implemented for our country, stating that the sunflower harvest started for the first time on early.
Petre Daea says that the pedological drought in our country is one of the reasons why this happened, the other being the very high temperatures that accelerated the ripening processes, so the harvesting had to start earlier.
"In this difficult context that we have regarding the pedological drought, it is obvious that the measures taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and, in general, by the farmers are measures adapted to the given situation. We have harvested the entire area, I have said it every time that I will communicate this goal accomplished when the last harvested area is located, and the production from that area is in the warehouse and is in the care of the producer and obviously free from impairments generated by factors climatic and which may occur.
The production that Romania obtained from the wheat crop ensures the country's full consumption and availability for export, which is why the entire production that was harvested has three destinations today: a destination that means storing and keeping in warehouses and in well-controlled warehouses.
This is from the point of view of the storage conditions, in such a way that the production does not depreciate at the farmers, in the warehouses that the processors have in order to transform the amount of wheat into flour and then on the way of the bread to ensure the population and availability for export.
We started the sunflower harvest. It is the first time in Romania that we start on this date. This is due to the fact that, on the one hand, the pedological drought and high temperatures accelerated the processes of ripening, growth, development and maturation of the plant. I started in five counties. The entire production that is harvested will be destined for immediate storage, so that we do not lose any moment that we could capitalize on gathering this harvest.
I started on the affected surfaces because these processes of ripening, of rapid maturation are identified on the surfaces where the respective cultures were affected. In other words, we started where nature directed us to do so. I'd like to make a purchase, which is worth it. Romanian farmers made an extraordinary effort and they make extraordinary efforts every time."
