Germany Proposes a Radical Measure in the European Union because of the War

Germany is proposing a radical measure for the European Union, but which could have a huge impact on the Russian economy, and this is because it wants people who have citizenship in an EU state to no longer be able to hold a high-ranking position in a Russian state corporation.

Germany has a former chancellor who is in such a position, so the measure comes as one that shows that it is determined to continue fighting for Ukraine in full war with Russia, even if this does not mean sending weapons, but taking some measures with a more serious economic impact.

"Germany proposes banning EU citizens from accepting high-ranking positions in Russian state corporations. Berlin circulated the proposal to EU governments, asking the EU to add it to the eighth package of sanctions, the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reports.

If implemented, the move would reduce Russia's "political influence" in EU countries and prevent EU politicians, such as former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, from getting involved in Russian state affairs."
