Google Chrome – 2 billion installations in 6 years

Google Chrome registered over 2 billion installations in 6 years on mobile terminals or computers around the world.

Google Chrome is the most popular browser on the planet, both for mobile terminals and computers, with 2 billion people installing the browser. The information comes from the Google company, which claims that 2 billion installations were made from September 2008 until now, so in 6 years Google Chrome has attracted the equivalent of a third of the planet's population.

We are talking about 2 billion installations made for Google Chrome and not about 2 billion people who use the browser every day, the difference being a big one. Google does not say how many people use Google Chrome every day, but the number is certainly very high, considering the very large number of installations so far.

We are talking about a first for the Google company because the Google Chrome browser is the first product of those from Mountain View with so many installations. Google Chrome has more than 1 billion active users on mobile devices, but this has been since April, so probably the figure of 2 billion total users will not be reached very late.

Google Chrome has an increasing market share in the browser segment, Internet Explorer being the big loser, Microsoft failing to convince its users to use its program. Having said that, Google Chrome is the most popular browser on the planet, whether we're talking about mobile terminals or classic computers.

"I wanted to make this point that there are a lot of Chrome browsers out there. What's exciting about this to you all is that when you think about building for the web, there's a lot of browsers out there that implement the latest web standards — that implement the latest and greatest web features."
