Electra jailbreak pentru iOS 11 a fost lansat in cursul zilei de ieri pentru toate iPhone si iPad compatibile, el continand si o aplicatie Cydia, dar aceasta nu este o veste buna. Ieri creatorul Cydia, saurik, a anuntat ca urmeaza sa lanseze noi actualizari pentru aplicatia sa, Cydia, si Substrate, iar ele vor fi, surpriza, incompatibile cu implementarea din Electra.
Saurik a afirmat ca tot ceea ce este facut pentru Cydia in Electra jailbreak si LiberiOS nu va fi compatibil cu actualizarile pe care el urmeaza sa le lanseze pentru aplicatia sa. Practic, el spune ca nu a lucrat vreodata la solutia de jailbreak Electra pentru iOS 11, nu a avut vreo aport in dezvoltarea actualizarilor pentru Cydia disponibile in ea, iar ele nu vor functiona cu actualizarile sale.
“FWIW, people using Electra are essentially using a fork of everything I’ve ever done that was put together by coolstar with no thought to how it would affect anything else I’m working on or will be releasing, either in the near future or in the distant future; so, if you have installed Electra, I would strongly recommend never installing any of the packages I push going forward: I have done no testing with Electra nor do I have any interest at all in spending time I don’t really have to try to figure out how to maintain compatibility with Electra. The new version of Cydia I’m going to be pushing will probably not work without the new version of Substrate, and I’m pretty sure the new version of Substrate I’m going to be pushing will not work on Electra (it definitely doesn’t work on LiberiOS.”
Pe de alta parte, creatorul solutiei de jailbreak Electra sustine ca problemele care exista pentru Cydia vin din faptul ca pachetele disponibile in ea nu sunt actualizate deocamdata. El spune ca tot ceea ce a facut pana cum pentru Cydia este bun, dar recunoaste ca a facut unele modificari fortate pentru a reusi sa faca aplicatia functionala pe iPhone si iPad.
Electra a fost actualizata noaptea trecuta la versunea 1.0.2, pentru ca exista oricum foarte multe probleme, insa cele cu Cydia sunt cele mai importante. Daca saurik are dreptate si actualizarile pentru Cydia pe care le va oferi nu vor fi compatibile cu ceea ce ofera Electra, atunci va recomand cu foarte mare tarie sa nu faceti inca jailbreak.
“Most of the packages on the electra repo don’t have patches at all. They simply are compiled for arm64 & have necessary entitlements. (Except dpkg/apt which have a fix for system()) (reboot, su, login, sbreload and ldrestart are modified with 3 line patch). Only APT and Cydia on the electra repo are forks of saurik’s work. (Dpkg has one of saurik’s patches but is still from upstream) All other packages are the latest version from their respective upstream sources and are not forks of saurik’s work. He clearly posted that without checking at all any of the packages on the Electra repo, neither has he even checked whether APT pinning works in Cydia before suggesting it. (Works fine for command line, but Cydia completely ignores it).”
Saurik a anuntat ca va lansa actualizarile sale pentru Cydia “in viitorul apropiat”, deci ar putea trece cateva saptamani bune pana cand ele ar urma sa fie disponibile pentru noi.
