Audio and video streaming from iPhone

ustream12-09 At the beginning of the week we presented the first one application which streams video between iPhones, now it's the turn of another one, which this time streams iPhone to iPhone but also directly to the web. The application is called Ustream Live Broadcaster, it was created by the people behind the site ustream.tv and just like the previous one, it can be downloaded for free from the AppStore. The appearance of this application is somewhat surprising, considering that a few weeks ago Apple vehemently refused to grant someone the right to stream from the iPhone.

Now let's get down to the nitty-gritty details: the application is compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS, allows streaming via 3G and WiFi, giving users the opportunity to record the streaming to review or upload elsewhere. I don't know if you noticed, but I mentioned the iPhone 3G as being compatible with this application, although this version is not recognized by Apple as "having the necessary hardware" to make video recordings. I don't understand what happened to the people at Apple, but you are starting to take big steps towards satisfying iPhone users, and this is a very good thing from my point of view.

The application allows uploading recordings directly to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and the website ustream.tv, giving users the opportunity to add the location using the phone's integrated GPS. To benefit from the service you must create an account on the Ustream website, the video quality is 320×240 px and can be set up to 176×144 and the sound has a small lag of 2-3 seconds. I tried it too, via WiFi the upload went absolutely excellent, without the slightest problem, of course with the specified lag, but I am amazed how well the streaming went.

From the reactions of the users, everyone managed to start the application on the iPhone 3G, so if you have such a terminal, prepare for this possibility. If you are interested in the application, you can download it from the US AppStore here and from the RO AppStore here.
