These days, NewKinetix will launch on the market Re, an accessory for iPhone/iPod Touch that, with the help of the application of the same name, will turn your phone into a real virtual remote control, being able to control any household appliance whose remote control works via Infrared.
The application is scheduled for release sometime early next year, both the application and the accessory being the only ones of this kind for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The accessory connects to the slot where you normally insert the data cable, making the infrared connection between your terminal and the accessory you want to order. The application is highly customizable, allowing users to arrange the buttons on the phone screen in any way they want, being able to add or remove the buttons they do not use, and there is also the option to create favorite lists for different household appliances. For now, it is not known exactly what the list of supported devices is, but the developers boast that this system will eliminate the need to use 2,3,4 commands for everyone's daily needs.
It seems to me something very useful, especially for the iPhone as it is a gadget in the true sense of the word, the biggest problem is that I don't really see any Romanian merchant who would bring something like this to our market, anyway the idea is good and I think it will catch on.
