chpwn is preparing a new surprise for us in the form of a tweak for iOS that will allow the free repositioning of icons in SpringBoard. The new tweak will be called Gridlock and will give everyone the opportunity to reposition the icons in any of the empty spaces in the rows available in SpringBoard. The tweak will be compatible with iTunes, so you won't have problems with syncing apps, and probably the app arrangement function in iTunes won't intervene in any way to mess up the order of apps when you sync.
Gridlock will soon be available in Cydia and will most likely cost only $1, a price affordable to everyone. The tweak will most likely only work with iOS 4.x, but chpwn has not confirmed/denied this.
