Brian Cooley, a CNET editor, lists 5 main reasons why the Android operating system with all its terminals is better than the iPhone with its iOS. Although the reasons cited by him do not seem to me to be so strong as to categorically tip the scale towards devices equipped with the Android operating system, I still thought it would be useful to see how Android is seen in the USA. The 5 main reasons are:

5. Android is Open Source.

4. Android knows how to multitask in the true sense of the word.

3. Android runs flash.

2. There are many terminals running Android OS.

1. Terminals with Android OS are available from many more operators. (we are only talking about the US here)

It's good that Android is Open Source, but it's not good that every manufacturer modifies it as they like, because that's how many incompatibilities appear and anyway Google will give up on this idea. Androi Market is a place you wouldn't want to come back too often. Regarding multitasking, I agree, here Android is one step ahead. We know very well that flash is not that great on mobile devices and I wouldn't say that Android has a big advantage here, but it's good that there you at least have the option to choose whether you want to use flash or not. Many operators have decided to launch terminals equipped with Android OS and this is a good thing for everyone because each terminal has its own features/etc separate from those available natively in the operating system. Point 1 is not worth commenting on because the situation is valid only in the USA and currently in Romania, but we know very well that Vodafone will release the iPhone 4 "soon".

What do you think, do these 5 reasons represent reality or not?
