Version 2.1 of sn0wbreeze is out

Last evening iH8sn0w released version 2.1 of sn0wbreeze that allows us to make a custom ipsw jailbroken and activated directly from Windows. This new version of the program works with iOS 3.2.2 and iOS 4.1, it is based on geohot's exploit introduced in limera1n but it does NOT decode phones with baseband 05.14.x or higher, in fact it does not decode any phone because it does not have software decoding included, but does activation.

My advice is not to use sn0wbreeze at all because in general it's a bad program with a lot of problems! If you still want to use it, then I recommend you wait a few more days because the first versions of the program were always full of bugs.

s0wbreeze 2.1 is compatible with:

  • iPhone 3G/3GS/4;
  • iPod Touch 2G/3G/3G;
  • iPad;
  • Apple TV.

The process by which you can make a custom ipsw is identical to that of here, the exception is the references to the old bootrom/new bootrom which no longer make sense and the fact that you need iTunes 10. After customizing the ipsw, follow the steps on the screen to enter your terminal in DFU Mode otherwise YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOAD THAT CUSTOM IPSW IN ITUNES! However, I recommend you to stay away from sn0wbreeze for now because it is a very bad program, that's why I won't make a dedicated tutorial for it until there is a version that solves the bugs.

You can download sn0wbreeze 2.1 from here.
