Apple will produce 21 million iPhone terminals in the first part of 2011

According to some sources close to the manufacturers of iPhone components, it seems that Apple has decided to increase the number of iPhone terminals produced for the first quarter of 2011, from 19 to 21 million. This increase is due to an alleged launch of the CDMA version of the iPhone 3GS/4, a version that will only be available on CDMA networks in the US and Asia. Apple would count on very good sales of this new version, so as a result it decided to increase production, but everything is just a rumor for now.

The first-quarter shipment goal for WCDMA iPhones has been adjusted from 13 million units to 14-15 million units, the sources said. The shipment goal for CDMA iPhones, which will be launched in North America and Asia Pacific in the first quarter, is set at 5-6 million units, the sources added.

It is estimated that in this last quarter of 2010, Apple sold over 15.5 million iPhone terminals, a number slightly higher than the figures presented in September by Steve Jobs. If it turns out to be so, then these last months will set a new record for iPhone terminal sales and maybe a new record in terms of receipts/profit.

If Apple releases a CDMA version of the iPhone 3GS/4, we will have nothing to do with it because there are no CDMA only networks in Romania at the moment. The new terminals will be identical in terms of hardware to the current ones, so you won't find anything new in them.
