Google Places is a new application for iDevices that has just been accepted in the AppStore. Using the new application you can find out information about almost any kind of places or points of attraction in your city. Google has a fairly large database of restaurants, hotels, gas stations, pizzerias, bars, cafes, post offices, etc., so it is quite likely that you will find a use for this application. To use it, you must activate your GPS and the application will display information about places/points of attraction as close as possible to your coordinates, but you can also search for other places.
Personally, I find Google Places extremely useful because it provides information about the distance to the proposed location plus the direction in which you have to go to find it. In addition to directions, you will be able to find detailed information about the place, reviews of users who have passed there, a phone number, an address or a link to the place's website. My advice is to download the application from the AppStore and test it, it's free.
