BigStream is a new accessory for iDevices presented at the CES 2011 Conference that took place at the beginning of this month. BigStream largely imitates the functionality of Apple TV 2G and AirPlay, that is, us allow to wirelessly stream audio/video from an iDevice to an external monitor/TV. Apple TV 2G must be connected to a monitor to display images, the connection to the iDevice is made via Wi-Fi to allow audio/video streaming using AirPlay. BigStream does not require connecting to a wireless network because the product consists of 2 small devices, one that connects to the 30-pin port of the iDevice and the other that connects to the television using an audio-video cable.

The 2 devices connect to each other, so your iDevice does not need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to send information. The big advantage of BigStream, as you can see from the video clip above, is that we can do video streaming for iOS applications. Notice that the representative of the company that produces BigStream is playing a game on the screen, well, this cannot be done using Apple TV 2G because Apple does not allow this functionality. BigStream instead allows this and more than that, we could use an iPhone/iPod Touch as a controller for our games.

BigStream it costs $99, exactly as much as an Apple TV 2G, but it is superior to the product offered by Apple.

Bigstream™ takes images, videos, games, presentations and other content from your mobile device and wirelessly streams them in real time to your TV screen. This handy adapter is easy to set up and extremely portable, so you can take it with you to friends' homes, family gatherings and the office.
