The new MacBook Pros report much more precisely the autonomy of the battery

Although it was rumored that the new MacBook Pro series will have batteries with a battery life of at least 11 hours, in the end Apple specifies in the page dedicated to the new products that they will have a battery life of approximately 7 hours when used with a Wi-Fi network for web browsing. Do not imagine that these products have a weaker battery than the series precedence or that the new Sandy Bridge platform consumes so much energy that the battery autonomy is so low. In reality, Apple has implemented a new battery autonomy measurement system and for this reason the new series has such a "small" autonomy.

Apple uses a process called Wireless Web protocol, which involves connecting to a Wi-Fi network, opening 25 websites, browsing through them and using all available functions, including viewing flash video content. Apple collects data on the energy consumed by the MacBook during this process and based on this data calculates the battery autonomy for its new products. Perhaps the process is not perfect, but Apple claims that it now reports the battery autonomy of MacBook Pros much more precisely.
