Vulnerability for Mac OS X and Safari demonstrated in the Pwn2Own contest, could work on iOS

I told you that these days the Pwn2Own competition is taking place, in which the best hackers and security experts in the world demonstrate the vulnerabilities of operating systems and programs available to the general public at the moment. It all started with the presentation of a vulnerability in Mac OS X and Safari where, by opening a web page, the system ran an application and wrote a certain file, all without even once asking the administrator's permission to do so. Interestingly, the operating system and the browser worked without any problem instead of crashing like most programs do.

Those who presented this exploit claim that the vulnerability is found in Webkit, the foundation on which Safari is built, so theoretically it should also be available on the iOS version of Safari. If iOS for Safari has this vulnerability, then a userland jailbreak could be developed based on it and released in the future. Until then, the contest continues and Charlie Miller has not yet demonstrated the untethered jailbreak exploit for iPhone 4.

UPDATED: It seems that Safari was exploited in just 5 seconds, nice.
