iPad 2 with new bootrom, SHAtter and limera1n become unusable

Last night almost all those who make jailbreak solutions managed to get their hands on an iPad 2 tablet and of course they tested to check if the exploits available so far for iDevices work. Unfortunately iPad 2 has the new iBoot-838.3 which is not affected in any way by SHAtter (which was kept especially for iPad 2) or limera1n and MuscleNerd claims that the first jailbreak solution for iPad 2 will be userland. Personally, I expected the iPad 2 to come with a new bootrom that would not be exploitable with the old exploits, and more than likely they thought the same.

The only problem with this method of jailbreaking is that it can be easily patched by Apple in the next firmware update. Also, since the exploit being used resides in userland, you're denied access to many of the low level hardware features, including the ability to decrypt firmware keys. iBoot exploits, on the other hand, are much lower level and offer much more freedom to interact directly with the unrestricted system.

The big problem with these userland jailbreaks is that the card is needed to activate the terminal before jailbreaking. Spirit and jailbreakme.com are the latest examples of userland jailbreaks and I know that many of you have been desperately looking for cards to activate your terminals and be able to jailbreak. More than sure we will see a userland jailbreak in the near future for the iPhone 5 will have the same new bootrom and the Dev Team will not spoil a bootrom exploit before the iPhone 5 release.
