Well, it seems that Apple could implement two LED flashes in the future iPhone terminal, at least that's what the people from DigiTimes who received information from Apple partners. Last week it was learned that Apple chose not to buy LED flash modules from Philips and signed contracts with 2 other suppliers who will supply LED modules not only for the iPhone 4 but also for the iPhone 5. It seems that these 2 suppliers will take over the contracts and for the dual flash LEDs in the iPhone 5 if the information from DigiTimes is correct.
Recent market rumors have indicated that Apple's iPhone 5 is likely to come with a dual-LED flash with Taiwan-based LED packaging firms Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto and Lite-On Technology being pinpointed as potential suppliers. The rumors come amid market reports indicating that Apple reduced its orders for Lumileds high-power LED flash products from Philips recently and switched the orders for LED flashes to Taiwan makers. Edison, which is specialized in the production of high-power LEDs, has begun shipping its LED flash products to branded handset vendors and therefore has a high chance of winning dual-LED flash orders from Apple, the sources noted.
The LED flash in the current iPhone 4 performs admirably and has been praised by many iDevice owners. Although the idea seems interesting and probably many would like something like this, I find it hard to believe that Apple will implement 2 flash modules in the iPhone 5.
