line 2 is an application for iDevices available for a long time in the App Store that allowed iDevice owners to use 2 phone lines on their own terminals. The application allowed users to configure a phone number and through a VoIP network to be called anywhere at any time as long as they were connected to the Internet. Now the company developing the application wants to bring this functionality to the iPad 2 tablet as of July 28, when a new version of the Line2 application will be available in the App Store.

Basically, after the Line2 application is installed on the iPad 2, it will allow users to buy a subscription to the developer company and set a phone number to be called. For now the subscriptions will only be available for the US and Canada and they include the ability to send SMS or even faxes to iPad 2 owners. Probably in the future the service will be available outside the US but in the meantime you can use the application PhoneItiPad to turn your tablet into a real phone.
