What I want from the iOS 5 Software Update

OTA (over-the-air) Software Update is a new system for updating the iOS operating system implemented by Apple in iOS 5. The system allows users to download to their own terminals through a Wi-Fi or 3G connection the so-called delta updates which in essence, they are versions of iOS that contain only the changes implemented in a new version of the operating system. Considering that the user only downloads a smaller version of the operating system that only contains the iOS files that have been modified, the installation is done directly from the phone very simply and easily.

The system works well on iOS 5 beta 3 but on iOS 5 beta 4 I discovered how problematic it is to install an OTA software update using a 3G connection. Considering that I didn't have a Wi-Fi network nearby, my heart was in my teeth and I tried to update via 3G, but unfortunately the image above was permanently displayed on my screen and the terminal did not start downloading anything although I had a good internet connection. Now I can't expect much from a 3G connection but I expect Apple to implement a Cancel button for downloads so that the image above is not displayed for 30 minutes in the Software Update menu. I tried to reset the terminal to stop the failed update attempt, but iOS 5 stubbornly continued to show me the failure to download the new OTA update.

With iCloud there is an option to stop the backup, but with software update we don't have such a thing and Apple should implement this option for those who either realize that they don't have a strong enough connection to download the update or for those who he realizes that he could incur additional "consistent" costs if he continues to download the iOS version. Until Apple implements this option, be sure to check your connection before trying to download an iOS update.
