Android tablets "steal" 20% of the iPad's market share in just one year

Android tablets, from smartphone manufacturers with the same operating system, have not had much success since their launch on the market until now. The previous statement is correct if we relate with individual manufacturers, but if we talk about all Android tablets, then things change because the total sales of this type of tablets are really impressive. In just one year, 4.5 million Android tablets were sold worldwide and managed to "steal" no less than 20% of the iPad tablet's market share.

Many vendors have introduced media tablets, but none are separating themselves from the pack to pose a serious threat to Apple. In fact, most have introduced products at prices higher than similarly-configured iPads. Apple, never a company to be waiting for others, has introduced its second-generation iPad media tablet while keeping product pricing unchanged. De-featured, low-cost media tablets are being introduced by more than fifty vendors in 2011. This will certainly help bolster year-over-year growth for the category, but it also creates a negative perception in the minds of the mass consumer audience about the readiness of media tablets to be fully functional within the next several years. Good user experiences and product response are needed to propel this market beyond the 'early adopter' stage.

Practically none of the Android tablet manufacturers can match the iPad tablet, especially when some sell in a year as much as Apple in 2 weeks. If we are talking about Android tablets as a whole, then the situation is completely different and this success has more than likely led those from Apple to file patent infringement lawsuits. The recent assault of the Apple company makes me believe that somewhere in Cupertino, someone did not expect the iPad tablet to lose so much of its market share, but this is only the beginning. What happens on the smartphone market will also happen on the tablet market in a few years, but I don't think that a single manufacturer could stand up to the iPad tablet.
