Steve Jobs, his biological father and the story behind a genius

The man in the image above is called Abdulfattah John Jandali and is the biological father of Steve Jobs, who until recently did not know that the founder of the Cupertino company was actually his son. Abdulfattah John Jandali is the president of a chain of casinos in Reno, Nevada, he is an influential, rich man who until recently did not know that Steve Jobs is actually his natural son whom he lost 5 decades ago. The two have never spoken or met and Abdulfattah John Jandali has not made any effort to look for his son until now.

This might sound strange, though, but I am not prepared, even if either of us was on our deathbeds, to pick up the phone to call him. Steve will have to do that, as the Syrian pride in me does not want him ever to think I am after his fortune. I'd be lying if I said it doesn't sadden me to have not been part of my son's incredible journey . What father wouldn't think that? And I would think that even if he wasn't the head of a hugely successful company.

Steve Jobs had an incredible life and his biological father was absent during this whole period, but unfortunately he is not willing to talk even now, with the son he says he would have liked to have close. Abdulfattah John Jandali is 80 years old, he is originally from Syria, but the decision to give Steve Jobs for adoption belonged to his girlfriend who gave birth to Steve Jobs secretly and gave him up for adoption without anyone knowing. Although Abdulfattah John Jandali claims that he would have wanted to raise his son, at the moment he is not willing to call Steve Jobs even if the latter suffers from an illness that could end his days at any time.

I'd be lying if I said it doesn't sadden me to have not been part of my son's incredible journey," he said. "What father wouldn't think that? And I would think that even if he was not the head of a hugely successful company."

In 1955, Jandali's girlfriend Joanne Simpson became pregnant, and although he wanted to marry her, he says her family would not allow it.

"I was very much in love with Joanne," he said. "But sadly, her father was a tyrant, and forbade her to marry me, as I was from Syria. And so she told me she wanted to give the baby up for adoption."

Steve Jobs is a genius, a visionary who had an unfortunate start in life but ended up being loved by millions of people and his products are enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
