iOS 5 contains references to the iPad 3 with Retina Display, Apple has tested the iPad 3 with a 3D screen

A few weeks ago we learn that Apple is testing an iPad 3 tablet with Retina Display and the code of that prototype would be J2. Well, they were in iOS 5 from Apple discovery references regarding this J2 code that would belong to the iPad 3 tablet with retina screen, so Apple is testing an iPad tablet with such a screen model. In reality, this J2 code is present in the new iOS 5 since the beta versions released during the summer, so Apple had a good few months in which to test the product and if its partners will be able to make enough retina screens, there are chances that we will see the iPad 3 with Retina Display next year.

Apple is currently giving two tablet PC projects codenamed J1 and J2 to its upstream partners for development. The sources revealed that the major differences of the new tablet PCs compared to the previous model are their size, specifications and technologies. Since the new tablet PCs have a higher resolution, Apple has demanded the design of the light source to be changed from a single LED light bar to two LED light bars on the left and right sides of the machine, but since the method of adopting two LED light bars have created difficulty in shrinking the machine's thickness, some vendors have come out with designs that only adopt one light bar, but are packing two LED chips into one package.

Regarding the possible launch of an iPad tablet with a 3D screen, those from BusinessInsider quotes sources from within the Apple company who claim that a prototype of the iPad tablet with such a screen has been tested by Apple. The new 3D screen of the tablet would offer users the opportunity to see 3D content without special glasses, so it would be the same as the rest of the products now available on the market. The bad part? Apple has given up testing such screens in its tablet, considering that for now they would not bring any advantage to iDevices, so the chances of a 3D screen appearing in any Apple product are small.

"The iPad 3 was often called iPad 3D in early prototypes," says this source. Like Nintendo's 3DS, this screen did not require users to wear glasses to see 3D effects. This source says Apple ditched the 3D screen because, he speculates, "they didn't want it to be a gimmick.

In conclusion, Apple is testing iPad 3 tablets with Retina Display, it has tested tablets with a 3D screen, but we know for sure that the 3D screen will not reach consumers.
