CloudFTP is a project that received funding through Kickstarter.com and that we talked about a few months ago when everything was in the fundraising phase for product development. USB sticks, external HDDs, digital cameras, almost any kind of product that has an external storage medium can be connected to an iDevice using CloudFTP. The product submitted in the video clip above, it basically works as a USB hub that allows an iDevice/PC/laptop to read the entire content of the storage medium using a special application or probably a web server made by CloudFTP.

CloudFTP is a pocket size adapter that can turn any USB storage device into a wireless file server, sharing files with WiFi-enabled devices (iPad, iPhone, computer, etc.). It can also automatically connect to the Internet to backup and synchronize your USB data with popular online Cloud storage services like iCloud, Dropbox and box.net. By default, CloudFTP creates its own (ad-hoc) wireless WiFi network to share the connected USB data. Users just need to join this network from their WiFi-enabled devices to access the USB storage device wirelessly by means of an HTML5 web app, dedicated iOS/Android app or FTP client. This network works independently of the Internet and other existing wireless networks.

Everything works of course through a Wi-Fi network and CloudFTP is able to either create an Ad-Hoc network to which we connect our device or to connect to an existing Wi-Fi network. The application available in the App Store displays all the files in various categories depending on the type of each individual file and for a computer you can probably use the CloudFTP web server. Receiving over $260.000 in Kickstarter funding, CloudFTP is present at MacWorld 2012 and will soon be available in stores for $100.
