Apple is preparing to launch new MacBook Air models

Although in July of last year Apple launched a new MacBook Air series, according to some sources inside Quanta, an Apple partner, it seems that a new series of the famous laptop is about to be launched. Those from DigiTimes I claim that the launch made by Apple will bring back Quanta's income to the level recorded in the same period of 2011, but unfortunately we are not given a possible date for the launch of the new Macs. It is quite unusual for Apple to release a new MacBook Air model so early, but anything is possible.

Quanta Computer shipped 3.8 million notebooks in January and expects its shipment volume in the first quarter of 2012 to drop 10-15% sequentially to 11.8-12.5 million units. With Apple set to launch a new MacBook Air model, Quanta's revenues are expected to grow further in the future.

It is rumored that the new MacBook Air would come with the new Ivy Bridge processors that consume only 17 watts and would have working frequencies between 1.8 - 2 Ghz. It is very possible that a 15-inch version of the MacBook Air will appear this year, but only if the Apple company will not change the design of the current MacBook Pros and make them much more similar to the MacBook Airs. Considering that iPad 3 is to be presented, I think that until the beginning of April we will not see a new model of MacBook Air or Pro.
